Acutouch
Acutouch or Jin Shin Acutouch as it is also known literally translates into, “compassionate spirit penetrating through touch”. Acutouch works on the principle that a single life force or energy connects all with the Universe. The Chinese call it ‘Chi’ or ‘Qi’, Indians call it ‘Prana’ and Japanese call it ‘Ki’. All matter – animate and inanimate – is full of this universal energy.
What is Jin Shin Acutouch?
Jin Shin Acutouch is the use of hands-on therapy to provide relief to the body. Unlike massages, which are an active and intense hands-on experience, Acutouch is performed through a quiet bodywork pattern of gentle touches.
There are 26 primary energy points on the body that are used in acutouch. The energy from the practitioner’s hands activates the energy flow of the client when two points are touched and held simultaneously. It is a method to ‘jump-start’ the patient’s energy channels.
Thus, Acutouch unlike Reiki does not transfer energy from the healer to the patient. It is in fact just using the healer to complete a circuit that allows the patient’s Chi to start flowing properly and freely. As the free flowing Chi circulates within the body, the patient becomes stronger and heals faster.
Acutouch is also carried out with the aid of energy or touch pointers. They are also known as Chi pointers.
History of Jin Shin Acutouch
Acutouch is based on the ancient Chinese philosophy of free flowing Chi being essential to the health and well being of the body. When the flow of Chi is obstructed or restricted in any way it causes stagnation and disease within the body. When Chi flows freely the body is healthy.
Illness is thus a consequence of obstructed Chi. To restore health one must restore the positive flow of Chi within the body and allow the body’s natural healing mechanism to take over.
Acutouch was used in China almost 3000 years ago. However, Dr. Chi Kyung Kim is credited with the invention of modern Acutouch using the touch pointers. Kim’s wife suffered a severe stroke and was declared as being beyond help by doctors and acupuncturists alike. Kim, an industrial engineer, refused to give up and decided to figure out a method to get the Chi flowing within his wife’s body to help her recover.
He finally decided that it would be possible for him to channel natural energy into the body at acupuncture points but without using needles to penetrate the skin. Instead he invented the touch pointers. Based on Yamata Takao’s discovery that Chi resonates stronger in a hexagonal tube, Kim combined a hexagonal tube with a magnifying glass and created the sympalense.
In a pair of touch pointers, Chi-waves are collected by the two sympalenses and then amplified in the hexagonal tube – the length of a pen. The amplified Chi is then focused using the specially shaped point of the touch pointers and used to replenish the Chi of the patient’s body.
Kim successfully treated his wife with the touch pointers and after much research started retailing them in 1996.
How Do Acutouch Pointers Work?
Acutouch pointers work using highly scientific principles unlike most traditional forms of healing. Patented sympalenses are located at the top of Acutouch pointers. These sympalenses pick up natural energy signals in the form of electromagnetic waves. Their hexagonal shape amplifies the energy and transmits it through the surface of the skin to the energy channels in the body.
The Acutouch pointers emit negative ions, which penetrate the skin. These negative ions help repair damaged tissues in the body and regenerate the cells. Acutouch also emits Far Infrared Rays or the light of Wonder. Scientifically, Far Infrared Rays have been proven to aid circulation, expand capillary vessels, strengthen metabolism and increase the body’s capacity to heal itself.
This natural energy or Chi is the only power that is used in Acutouch. There is no electricity and no battery involved. Acutouch is thus a completely non-invasive technique that cannot harm anybody and has no side effects. It is powerful though and caution must be exercised when being used by pregnant women and people using pacemakers.
Using Acutouch Pointers
Using the Acutouch pointers is a fairly simple process and easy to learn. Most pointers are sold together with a complete instruction manual.
You will need to identify the correct Acupuncture points or Acutouch points to which you need to apply the Acutouch pointers depending on your ailments. Once you have identified the points on your body place the Acutouch pointer at 90 degrees to your skin surface on the point. Apply the pointers to the body for at least 30 seconds. 1 – 2 minutes is better.
Sometimes you may feel pain or some sensations. It often happens that an ailment needs to worsen before it begins to heal. The pain will lessen with continued Acutouch therapy. Also, if the sensations are mild simply keep the pointers in place until the sensations begin to abate.
It is recommended that the patient should take off all metallic objects such as jewellery and belts. This reduces the magnetic interference and further improves the flow of Chi during Acutouch.
Applications Of Acutouch
Acutouch is used to help heal a wide variety of conditions and illnesses. It has been found to help cure asthma and other respiratory problems. It is also helpful in dealing with ear, nose and throat conditions. Musculoskeletal disorders, psychological disorders, neurological disorders, back injuries and sports injuries and even gastro-intestinal disorders can be treated with Acutouch.
How fast healing occurs depends on the severity of the condition and the duration it has been present for. Also the amount of time the patient devotes to therapy will determine how quickly he heals.
Acutouch is thus a successful therapy that combines the advanced technologies of bio-magnetic therapy with the mysterious but effective philosophy of Eastern medicine and the principles of Chi and Acupuncture. Acutouch Books |
