Probably saved my life...............
I'm 58 and up until 5 years ago I'd smoked heavily since my early teens. When my daughter said to me "Dad, please stop smoking, I'd like you to meet your grandchildren one day"!, I decided to give this book a try.
I started reading it, and to my delight Allen Carr said I shouldn't stop smoking until I finished the book - that meant I could read it really slowly and carry on smoking for a while ! Mad, crazy thinking, but then eveything about addiction is mad & crazy !
I reckon I took three weeks to finish the book and I haven't had a cigarette since, over five years now - I still can't believe it.....
I gave up alcohol 23 years ago, so I know something about addiction. I found that hard, but it was more urgent, as my life was quickly being destroyed by my drinking. I didn't really believe I'd ever give up smoking as I'd tried quite a few times previously, without success.
There is magic in this book, or at least it feels like that. Allen Carr completely blows all the myths about smoking, including how hard it is to give up. Once I'd finished the book, I found it easy. I had virtually no physical symptoms at all & the physchological symptoms were pretty easy to overcome. I now don't miss cigarettes at all - amazing.
On top of all that, I bought a copy for my son hoping he might read it too, being a heavy smoker & he read the book & has been a non smoker for about three years now.
If you want to stop & save (or at least extend) your life, I heartily recommend this incredible book.
PS I have two grandchildren now, and two more on the way !!
It worked for me
I was told about this book by a collegue. I started reading it thinking I would read the book but never stop. As I read it I found myself having less and less desire to smoke.
The book was very repetative and at times it would have been easy to stop reading. I continued to the end of the book and have now been a non smoker for over a year.
In that time I have had cravings but but most of the time I am just thankful that i don't smoke anymore.
Gave up by accident after reading this.......
Well sort of!
Read this in conjunction with listening to Paul Mckenna 'Stop Smoking' hypnosis tape (every night for at least 2 wks), and wasn't really sure I wanted to quit, but was supporting a friend (as you do). Had read AC's Easyway, but needed something more hardcore to convince me... I put out my last ciggy at 1pm 7th January 2008, and have not smoked since.
Oh Yes, occassionally felt like a ciggy, but bigger picture is I do not want to be a smoker. Thanks to Allen Carr
20 a day for 25 years - and I LOVED smoking...........If I can do it, YOU CAN TOO ! GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
