Who can resist a nice juicy steak or that inviting looking hamburger? Just seeing that chocolate chip sundae is enough to make your mouth water, and when you actually eat it, you feel like you’re in heaven. Sadly, although such types of foods are very good to taste, they are not doing anything good for the health of your body.

In recent years, researchers have found that most bodily ills are caused because of an unhealthy body and organs. In modern times, foods are filled with all kinds of pesticides and toxins, which are very bad for human health. Overeating, having an unbalanced diet, and eating inorganic foods, all contribute to ill health.

Intake of solid food is generally prohibited when fasting, which can be of the following types.

1) Liquid Fasting

In such a fast, the fasting person is on a complete liquid diet. Liquid fasting includes various kinds of fasts, such as:

  • Water Fasts: In water fast, you are allowed to drink only water, and nothing else, for the entire time that you are fasting. Fasting on only water is considered as the most pure type of fasting.
     

  • Juice Fast: A water fast can be very difficult for many people, who can then opt for a juice fast instead. In such a fast, you can drink natural fruit juices and/or water. A juice fast is easier to keep than water only fast, as the juices satisfy at least a part of your cravings. Some people believe that a juice fast is better than water fast, as the juices help to reduce the acidic effects that arise when stored food waste is burnt and disposed from the body, during fasting.

2) Fasting on Air

This type of fast is also known as a Prana (air) fast. In a prana fast, you live only on air and are not allowed to take in any solids or liquids. Naturally, such a fast is, by far, the toughest to keep.

Just as your body naturally forces you to fast when you are sick, by decreasing your appetite, so does your body have a natural cleansing process.

Because of the diet that you eat, the organs in your body, specifically the colon and the intestines, get polluted and clogged. When your body has had enough, it starts its natural cleansing process, which you feel in the form of stomach aches, head aches, flatulence, acidity, acne, skin rashes etc. If the body is abused constantly, it will contract serious diseases and the cleansing process will be seen as the symptoms of these diseases.

As is evident from all the above, fasting and cleansing are very important if you want to be healthy and always feel full of life. Fasting and cleansing are not two separate therapies, but are very inter-related.

Fasting is the best way to cleanse your entire body and remove all harmful accumulations and toxins from it. When you fast, these released toxins enter your colon, which is where colon cleansing comes in. With colon cleansing, you can flush out these toxins from your body, once and for all. However, it is essential to note that fasting and cleansing is not something that you do once and you’re set for life. These are natural therapies that need to be made a part of your life and done regularly throughout the year.
